Guies de Catalunya and Responsible Tourism

These days, there is an all-present debate in Barcelona over one topic and how to do it responsibly.

Be it economically, socially or environmentally, in Guies de Catalunya we have a clear vision for responsible and sustainable tourism.
But this is not just a slogan; we are convinced that the benefits of an economic activity such as tourism must have a positive repercussion on the environment where it is practiced.

Some benefits must work to serve the inhabitants and professionals of the area and to improve their lives and work conditions. Thus, creating a social responsibility towards people living in cities and places of touristic appeal.

We don’t just talk about it because everyone does

The reason we do it is because, now that we have achieved the preparation for the Biosphere Certificate, we have gone a step beyond. We compiled some of the actions that, for 25 years, we have applied to our routes and that are now part of our Responsible Tourism Policy.

Because only through respect and sustainability we keep existing.

Responsible Tourism by Guies de Catalunya

We all have the responsibility to look after the protection of our material heritage (urban structures, buildings…), our intangible heritage (traditions, folklore, gastronomy…) and, most importantly, our natural and environmental heritage. After all, only through protecting and preserving the planet will we achieve the passing to our grandchildren of what our grandparents passed to us.

These concerns we have had for a long time brought us to belong, since its foundation, to AGUICAT, the Association of Tour Guides licensed by the Generalitat de Catalunya aiming towards a touristic sector that is responsible and qualitative. This goal is achieved through their compendium of best practices, always kept in mind when designing and performing our tours.
