Primary colors and bassic lines are hallmarks of Joan Miro’s works. Today we will discover something more of his symbolic language

We are starting our tour by the historical center of Barcelona. Here borned Joan Miró in 1893.

Almost 80 years later, he accepted a commission from the Barcelona City Council to carry out a work that would welcome those who arrived in the city by aircraft. This project got materialized wu¡ith a big mural that decorates Terminal 2 of Barcelona’s airport.

This is how Miró wanted too to welcome people coming by ship to Barcelona. Located in the middle of La Rambla, we are going to see this mosaic before we go to Miró Foundation, his big project in Barcelona.

Created in 1975, Miró’s intention was to dcreate a space for the contemporary art, where young artists could expose and that could be used to show some his pieces, that himself and his family donated to the Foundation. With them, the collection is complemented with the private collection Kazumasa Katsuda, one of the most important Miro’s collector in the world.

Foundation building was designed by Josep Lluís Sert, great friend of Miró, to show the works exposed in the way that Miró wanted to.

We will make a chronological tour that will also help us to know his life and his concerns.

A la salida de la Fundación, recorreremos una parte de la colina de Montjuic hasta llegar a la Plaza de España, donde encontraremos otra de sus obras más impresionantes, la Woman and Bird, at Joan Miró Park, where we’ll end our tour.
