Nestled between the Garraf mountains, access to Sitges by land has always been complicated. That’s why its inhabitants were forced to open to the world through the sea Cradle of merchants since ancient times, it was especially during the 18th and 19th centuries that Sitges became the dynamic place that it remains today.

First was the departure and subsequent return of the Americanos great promoters of modernity on their return. With them came the railway that brought the first people from Barcelona to discover the goodness of its climate. Among them, artists attracted by the Mediterranean light, such as Santiago Rusiñol who made Sitges his shelter, celebrating with his friends the famous modern style festivals at Cau Ferrat.

Artists and vacationers made Sitges a cosmopolitan and open town, also famous for its celebrations: Carnival, Corpus Christi, the International Film Festival, the Gay Parade…

We propose a getaway from Barcelona to spend a morning or an afternoon in Sitges

Strolling through its streets we will know the most famous corners of Sitges, as well as the vestiges of the walled town that was in the Middle Ages, the houses that the Americanos built on their return from the colonies or the maritime façade, where the first hotels were built.
And we will visit the Maricel-Cau Ferrat Museum, which occupies the space where Santiago Rusiñol and Charles Deering lived, two of the architects of the artistic Sitges that still exists today.
