Whenever Gaudí was asked, ‘When will Sagrada Familia be finished?’, he used to say that his customer was not in a rush.
The truth is that, even if construction work at Sagrada Família has been steady over the last twenty years, it was not always like that. We have been lucky to see the church grow day by day, and we have been witnesses to the materialization of Gaudí’s project.
We belong to this generation of licensed guides that have grown professionally while the church’s towers rose to the sky.
Let us join you in a private tour at Sagrada Familia that won’t leave you indifferent.
We will explain why Gaudí took over construction at Sagrada Familia and what happened with the previous architect-yes, there was a previous architect.
We will talk about his project and how it was developed over the 43 years that he spent working on it, knowing that he would not be able to finish it. Can you imagine? Dedicating an entire life to a project whose end you will never see. Unbelievable, right?
But that is only a part of everything that you will discover on our private tour at Sagrada Familia.
We will start the tour in the exterior. There are so many things about Sagrada Familia that you can only see from a certain distance !
We will talk about why it is where it is, why it has the orientation that it has, and about what happens, and what will happen to everything around it.
Then, we will approach the church to see the detail of its façades. To read them, because that is what
Because Gaudí wanted the interior of the basilica to cause an emotion in everyone that could see it. Even we get emotional every time we go inside, just as if it was the first time.
And we are pretty sure that you will, too
Once inside the church, we will talk about nature, about architecture, color, light, sensations, and religion. Yes, we will also talk about religion!
And, to end the whole thing, in the museum we will find the secret of Gaudí’s methods. Methods that are simultaneously simple and complex, traditional and innovative. A method of working that is almost as striking as the end result.
